Brief Description

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will hold an open competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) for various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations in the Government of India. The selection process involves a Computer Based Examination followed by a Skill Test in Stenography.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Age Limit

  • Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years.
  • Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 18 to 27 years.
  • Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.

Selection Process & Syllabus

Two-Stage Selection

  • Computer Based Examination: An objective type paper with 200 questions for 200 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Skill Test in Stenography: Candidates who qualify the computer-based exam will be called for a skill test. This includes a dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi, which the candidates will have to transcribe on a computer.

Exam Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 Marks): Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, including analogies, similarities, problem-solving, judgment, visual memory, etc.
  • General Awareness (50 Marks): Current events, India and its neighboring countries (History, Culture, Geography, Economy, General Polity, Scientific Research).
  • English Language & Comprehension (100 Marks): Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and writing ability.

  2. Candidates must complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website before filling the application.
  3. The application requires a live photograph of the candidate captured via webcam or mobile.
  4. Upload a scanned signature.
  5. Pay the application fee online (if applicable).
  6. Review all details carefully before final submission. A correction window is available with a fee.

Yes, a 'Window for Application Form Correction' will be available from 1st July to 2nd July 2025. You can make corrections by paying a correction charge.
